better ability to switch from widescreen-fullscreen

i want to be able to move the subtitles or atleast somehow switch the screen size so that they stay in and yet the background is gone. now i can just take it all out and put in my own sometimes but than i have to mess with the timing which becomes a pain. these are subtitles that were set for a video to be
widescreen by 3rd party.
